Volunteer in Human Rights
Description:
Peace Brigades International Volunteers protect the lives of peace and human rights activists in Colombia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Mexico, and Nepal providing them with the safety necessary to carry out their work in social justice and peace in their countries. These trained international volunteers accompany local individuals and organizations facing persecution as a result of their efforts to protect human rights and contribute to peace. Over the years PBI volunteers have worked to widen democratic space in El Salvador, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Haiti and North American native communities.
Qualifications:
Qualifications vary from field project to field project. Before being accepted, all candidates must present letters of reference, take part in a telephone interview and participate in a week-long training session. Language proficiency may be necessary. Please contact us for additional information.
Salary / Pay: We Provide: * Full and comprehensive training by a team of professionals * costs of travel to the project and living expenses * monthly stipend * on the ground field experience, close contact with local NGOs and communities

Peace Brigades International - USA's Mission Statement: The work of PBI-USA focuses on supporting the field projects through volunteer recruitment, fundraising, public education and political support networks. PBI-USA also promotes education and training on peace and nonviolent strategies, as well as conducts outreach activities, such as speaking tours, in order to build awareness for the field of human rights and peace and conflict resolution in the U.S.
