Description:
The focus of the IFESH Teachers for Africa Program in Guinea is teaching of English as a Second Language (TESL)and TESL/TEFL teachers are needed. Strong conversational French is adequate; applicants for the TESL/TEFL positions need not be fluent in French. Applicants are also needed to work as experts in various Guinean Ministry of Education-related agencies. Teachers, professors and administrators will work in development of audio-visual materials, development of educational radio programs, curriculum development, counseling at the secondary level (working with both students and counselors), and teacher training (primary and secondary level teachers). A Masters or Ph.D. degree, extensive experienc and fluent French are highly recommended for advisory positions working with the Government of Guinea. Since 1992, more than 780 American teacher volunteers have been recruited and assigned to schools, universities, colleges and governmental educational institutions in Guinea and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Qualifications:
Applicants for the Teachers for Africa Program MUST BE A U.S. Citizen or permanent residents of the U.S.; have a college degree; and have a minimim of three years formal teaching experience. Applicants for Guinea must also be proficient in French. Applicants should be able to work effectively in a developing country. If you are traveling with children, they must be at least 8 years of age or over.

Salary / Pay: Benefits for Teachers for Africa include orientations (in the U.S. and in Guinea); international transportation to and from Guinea and transportation to the orientation in Phoenix, AZ; health insurance; a stipend of $800 per month; pre-departure and settling-in allowances; and an allowance for shipment of professional materials.
