Description:
IVH has partnered with an Ecological Center and Griffon Vulture Refuge on the island of Cres in Croatia.The island's unique physical environment and local folkloric tradition provide the perfect opportunity to participate in a model sustainable community development project, while still allowing time to explore cliff-side beaches, labrynths, old roman ruins, and mountain trails. Work Projects: * Guiding visitors through the Griffon Vulture exhibit and refuge * Monitoring vultures and other rare wildlife on the island. If needed, participating in rescues. * Engaging in Environmental Sustainability projects including: cleaning out eutrofying ponds, creating stone labrynths, and reconstructing old stone walls that prevent erosion. * Specialized biology and environmental research, if there is a deep interest.

Cost Include Description:
Cost includes local transportation to the volunteer project site, all housing and food. Accommodations include separate female and male dormitories, laundry facilities, computer/internet access, private bathrooms with hot-water showers, and close proximity to the beach, local shopping, and restaurants.Throughout the week, volunteers will participate in cultural and environmental activities that will occur throughout the island.

If you are interested in doing an internship with the ecological center, prior knowledge in biological sciences or ecology would be very helpful.
