Considered the center of Afro-Brazilian culture, Salvador da Bahia is the perfect place for participants to experience how to use the arts as vehicles for positive social transformation. From samba dancing to Afro-Brazilian drumming and Bahiana cooking to capoeira, you will experience how the music and art of Brazil have become tools to empower loclas living in favelas (shanty towns) through innovative youth and community development projects. Beyond your participation in a sustainable development project in Salvador, you'll also have the opportunity to explore world class beaches, participate in African derived religious and cultural cermonies, visit local traditional woodworking or fishing communities, and tour sea turtle rescue organizations. Excursions: - A mix of adventure and cultural activities may include: - Visit sea turtle rescue centers - Participate in cultural workshops - Explore the area's best beaches
