Description: Volunteers have the opportunity to live and assist at a local corporation near Volcán Mombacho. Volunteers can work on a variety of tasks in agriculture such as Milking, cutting grass and cane, feeding the animals, clearing the stable, and general maintenance of pasture crops. There are also opportunities to teach English, help with the physical upkeep of the structures, and work with the women of the cooperative on their entrepreneurial projects. Staying at Mombacho, volunteers become a part of the cooperative family and are fully immersed in a unique living and working environment.

Highlights: While at Mombacho, volunteers have an opportunity to be a part of Nica culture, outside of the tourist industry. However, Nicaragua is a beautiful country and there are many chances for participants to play tourist at a variety of locations.

Qualifications: Strong Spanish language skills. Participants are in a 100% Spanish speaking environment. Background or demonstrated interest in relevant fields.

Typical Volunteer: There is no typical ELI volunteer. We work with people from all over the world and a variety of backgrounds. ELI has placed volunteers ranging in age from 18-81. Successful volunteers are flexible, upbeat, energetic, and inquisitive.
