Dates: April 19-28 2010
Description:
About HANDS: HANDS is an American non-profit organization with charitable, 501 (c) 3 status. Established more than twenty years ago, HANDS aims to promote peace and cooperation with the Middle East, through building bridges between the US and Egypt, the most populous and one of the most influential countries in the Arab world. HANDS partners with 30 Egyptian civil society organizations. Medical Mission Program: We started the Medical Mission in response to the numerous requests for professional training voiced by health care professionals working in clinics in underserved areas of Egypt. During the Mission, US medical professionals will have the opportunity to hold demonstrative treatment campaigns in underprivileged communities and present workshops on their specialties for their Egyptian colleagues. Additional Information about the Trip: Participants from the US will be responsible for covering the cost of the trip. The cost is 2,000 USD (for hotel stay in a double room) or $2,500 (for hotel stay in a single room), excluding air fare. This price covers accommodation at a four-star hotel, food and beverages, local transportation, and weekend sightseeing tours across Egypt. HANDS volunteers in this program might be eligible to receive a matching grant up to 1,000 USD from the Global Giving Foundation, which provided such grants to some of our volunteers last year. (Volunteers must meet eligibility criteria to receive these matching grants; please contact us for more information). We are happy to help volunteers find the best airline deal, while we also encourage you to take advantage of mileage programs or other airline benefits you may have access to. To show our gratitude for your donation of time and knowledge, HANDS can offer a receipt confirming your tax deductible contribution, which can be claimed on end of the year tax forms. Dates The trip is scheduled for Sunday, April 18 to Thursday, April 29, 2010. The deadline to register (with your 500 USD deposit) is November 30, 2009. To learn more, you can contact us.
