Description:
This centre cares for a number of very endangered macaques, native only to the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia, that have been confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade. Volunteers are required to assist in their daily care as they undergo rehabilitation prior to release back to the wild.
Highlights:
Each and every volunteer on this programme will make a difference to the lives of these endearing primates and contribute to their chances of being released back to the wild. The centre is located on the tropical island of Sulawesi in a stunning location next to the beach.
Qualifications:
Volunteers with enthusiam, spirit and compassion for animals are sought after to support this project. No animal experience is necessary for our standard volunteer scheme. Vet nurses are urgently needed to help provide professional veterinary care to our wildlife and will be offered a position on a "free stay" basis.
Cost in US$: 200 USD/week
Cost Include Description:
The volunteer fee covers the cost of 3 cooked meals a day and accommodation on site at the rehabilitation centre. Also the transfer to and from Manado airport are included. The rest of the funds are used to pay for animal food and care. Without the volunteer contributions, this project would not be able to function.
