Description: Centro Educativo Ananda Marga was founded by missionaries of Ananda Marga and started to operate in 2001. In the beginning we had to struggle to promote our ideals and philosophy to the community because of their strong religious beliefs. We are introducing a new type of education which includes vegetarianism, yoga and meditation.

In 2002 the primary school was completed and the student roll increased to 100. From 2002 until the present our student roll ranges from 100 to 130 children.

Our motto is Savidyaya Vimuktaye which means "Education is that which liberates". We believe that if proper education has been given to everyone it can bring a potential development to be a good citizens and the world would be a better place to live.

The school is located at the heart of Managua the capital of Nicaragua; it is in the Barrio Villa Reconciliacion where the former rebels, military and civilians are now living together, putting behind them the war where many people lost thier lives in the past.

We have one room for all levels in the kindergarten and six classrooms for each primary class. Volunteers can assist in the classroom or help with administration.

*** Cost is USD 350 for the first month and 150 for each subsequent month. Long term volunteers (6 months+) will be offered a discount on this rate. The above price includes a donation to the project and covers your food and accommodation. You pay for flight, visa, and any recreational eating or traveling you do.

Qualifications: Must be fluent in Spanish conversation.

Experience Required: yes

Experience working in child care is a definite asset.

Typical Volunteer: Independent and emotionally mature. Ready to initiate a programme during thier stay and provide details and instructions so that volunteers who come afterwards may be able to continue on the project. An ability to laugh when things don't go as one expected and to surrender one's cultural expectations, when encountered with a different situation than one would expect back home .... to live and experience each day with an open heart and willingness to communicate in a non threatening way with staff at the project.

KIDS Worldwide's Mission Statement: Kids Worldwide seeks to improve the quality of life for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. We provide nurturing care and educational programmes based upon the universal concepts of Neo-Humanism, which are tailored to the needs of the children in our projects. We run orphanages as well as provide services to already established orphanages and childrens' projects (such as struggling primary schools and kindergartens) through our volunteer outreach programs. Our volunteer programs are notable in that we only request a small donation for food and accommodation that is paid directly to the project itself when the volunteer arrives.
