Volunteer on a Building Project on an Organic Farm in Costa Rica
Costa Rica
- North Western Region:
La Fortuna
Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: Visit our website for upcoming start dates
Description:
A truly unique experience, volunteers engage with Costa Rica, its communities and environment. Volunteers are based near to La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano, 2 of Costa Rica's highlights, and work on building projects such as building new dormitories made from old tires, helping with fencing systems for the farm, reforestation efforts on the 230 acre property, or local community initiatives, all which provide economical solutions for the surrounding area. As a functional farm and major employer in the local community, your help will enable Finca Luna Neva to continue to grow and be a resource center for all of Central America. Learn about Costa Rican culture and customs, learn a few words of basic Spanish, try the local cuisine, and meet and work alongside members of the local community, all as you live among and learn about New Chapter's organic and bio-dynamic farm, Finca Luna Nueva. How this program makes a difference: Volunteers will be working alongside project staff, to develop sustainable development initiatives that will help the long term success of the farm and the surrounding communities. With the help of volunteers through manpower and funding, the centre will be able to construct accommodation to house future volunteers and students, plant trees for reforestation efforts, create and maintain rainforest trails and water treatment programs, along with numerous other projects that will benefit the community, the environment and students. Project work may also focus on the nearby communities, who are stakeholders in the area and essential to the success of the farm's long terms aims locally.
