NGO Amazon Shelter For Animal and Environmental Protection's Mission Statement: The N.G.O Amazon Shelter for Animals and Environmental Protection is a non profit organization with the objective to promote and participate in the protection of the environment, the ecology and the rural development through programs for the conservation of wild life and for the sustainable management of natural resources, research projects about flora and fauna and environmental education programs for the communities, among others. In the year 2007 we created the Center of Rehabilitation and Conservation for Wild Animals Amazon Shelter - CRCAS in Puerto Maldonado city, to receive, rehabilitate and conserve the animals that are confiscated by INRENA. By today we have already accomplished the reintroduction of several animals to their natural habitat and we shelter animals that are in continuous process of rehabilitation. We also work with the local communities through environmental education programs to raise awareness of the importance of preserving their environment.
