The people of the small village Ndebele often have to walk long distances. The next village, offering only poor shopping facilities, is a 40-minute walk away. The Bicycle Project supports the infra-structure, retail, small businesses and recreational activities of the local rural communities. You do have several opportunities to get involved in this project. As a volunteer you could, for example support the people of Ndebele with the maintenance of their bikes or in their entrepreneurial knowledge. The organization is always looking for volunteers who can build and market a freight carrying trailer that is lower in price than current ones and which is build out of recycled bicycle frames. You could also offer a sales and fixing service for locals and support non-motorized transportation. Furthermore, they wish to develop a mountain-bike trail and a bicycle route for tourists passing the local sights.
