Take Part In a Summer School for Children in Romania
Romania
Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: 5th - 19th July, 19th July - 2nd Aug, 2nd - 16th Aug, 16th - 30th Aug
Description:
You will be working with approximately 40-100 disadvantaged children between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. The summer school runs from 9am-2pm each day and the children sometimes come back during the evenings to watch a film etc. At each summer school, there are usually 6 different clubs: art, drawing, music, dance, sport and English. One CAST volunteer will be assigned to each of the clubs along with 1 or 2 Romanian volunteers. You will need to plan activities and carry these out with the children for approximately 40 minutes, after this time the clubs will rotate. All 6 groups will get to do each of the different clubs every day. Volunteers can either do the same club for the entire week or swap between themselves if they wish.
Highlights:
This is a fun project ideal for young volunteers or those who haven't volunteered abroad before. CAST volunteers work closely with Romanian volunteers of similar ages and form strong friendships with them. Volunteers also have the freedom to plan their own activities for the children.
Cost in US$: Cost of flight plus GBP 100 - GBP 200 to cover living costs

The cost includes accomodation, training before your trip and transport whilst in Romania. Volunteers are also asked to cover the cost of their flights and raise a GBP 250 donation.
