Description:
Walea primary school is one of the government primary schools in one of the rural ares in Kaloleni district in Kenya. The school was started by the community in the year 1979 and later the government took over and now it became a government school. There are 13 streams and 510 pupils at the school, 265 boys and 245 girls excluding the kindergarten. Highlights:
The main aim of starting the school was to provide an education which is a partnership of shared responsibilities among the statement and to develop the pupils talents and to work hand in hand with the community. Volunteers will be attached to a supervisor teacher who will orient them on the curriculum and formally introduce them to the students. All volunteers will teach within the laid down syllabus as approved by the Kenya institute of education. Extra curricular studies, and recreation activities will be conducted after school hours. The volunteers will be leaving the host family early in the morning to make it in time for the school parade and staff briefing before being dispatched to their various class rooms. The school has a number of 13 teachers in total, 4 male teachers and 9 female teachers. The school offers close learning supervision through its hardworking and competent teachers.
Qualifications:
* one must be a teacher back at home with at least 1 year experience. * should provide us with detailed CV. * should be have a good written and spoken English. * should have a valid visa to stay in Kenya; mostly a visitors visa is okay. * should provide us with a photocopy of their passport and travel insurance policy. * should agree to stay with a host family just like any other volunteers.

Cost Include Description:
* 100 USD for registration fees after applying. * 680 USD covers for the costs listed above for a period of 4 weeks. * An extra of 100 dollars is charged per every one week of the extension of the program.

Typical Volunteer: Volunteers with experience in Mathematics, English grammar and composition, Science, Social Studies, Geography, History and Civics, Creative Arts, HIV/Aids awareness, life skills and business education teaching. One year experience is useful for the teachers so that they can swing into action immediately and avoid wasting time on orientation at the expense of students.
