Description: Volunteers are needed to assist with the care and rehabilitation of the endangered Bridled Nailtail Wallaby, also known as the Flashjack, which is one of the 45 existing species of Kangaroo in Australia.

The project is a 170 hectare private reserve that aims to ensure the survival of the few remaining known colonies of wild Bridled Nailtail wallabies. Quality care is provided for the wallabies in need so that they may be released on to safe properties that feature the animal's habitat requirements. The reserve is also home to other Australian species such as Koalas, wombats, various birds and reptiles.

As a volunteer in this project you will be given the opportunity to work with endangered species, to contribute to the species recovery, experience Australian wildlife up close and gain an insight into endangered species conservation and management programs. You will live and work with a professional staff and other motivated volunteers from around the world.

Highlights: As a volunteer on Project Kial you will be given the opportunity to work with endangered species, to contribute to the species recovery, experience Australian wildlife up close, and gain an insight into endangered species conservation and management programs. Your main roles as a volunteer will be as follows:

* Being responsible for maintaining a high level of day to day animal husbandry
* Completing operational tasks with other team members
* Observing and interpret animal behavior
* Assisting with trapping, animal health checks and animal treatments
* Assisting with hand raising of rescued Joeys
* Communicating our message of environmental and conservation awareness to the wider community, in particular the Flashjack release project.

The project offers its volunteers the unique opportunity to use their initiative and share their ideas. It is an open, friendly environment, and we encourage you to get involved in all of our projects. With lots of exciting new projects under way at camp, there's always something our volunteers are encouraged to get involved in.
