Description:
1. Work together with children at the center.
2. Design new forms or styles for the center.
3. Take care of trees such as: water, pick grass up.
3. To act like a member of SJ Vietnam and not like an employee or an alternative tourist.
4. To promote SJ Vietnam and "Hold the future" center.

Highlights: "Hold the future" is a center for the young disabled mainly coming from Hanoi. They have disadvantaged conditions and it is really difficult for them to find a job for earning their livings. In this center they work by themselves and they also support for their life. Products from the center such as lacquer painting, embroidery, souvenirs, and postcards will be exported to many countries. Money from their products will be paid for their salaries and their daily life. The center has two laces: the first one is for producing mentioned products above, and the other is for gardening. At the second place they plant some kinds of trees: fruit trees, pot trees decorative plants), vegetables. They even feed fish, poultry. All products from the second place will be used to serve for themselves and one part is sold to get money to get by with their life.

Qualifications:
* Fluent in English (French or Vietnamese is an asset).
* Have the will to learn the sign language.
* Be able to do some manual works.
* Have ability to design new styles.
* Be patient.
* Willing to work and stay in Hanoi.
* Strong interpersonal skills and experience in working with a wide variety of people; cultural sensitivity.
* Commitment to volunteerism, considerable experience as a volunteer.
* Member of a work camp organization if possible.
* Ready to live as local people (basic accommodations, transport by bus or bicycle, local food)

  • Cost in US$: 300/month

    Cost Include Description:
    200 EUR/month includes food, transportation and basic accommodation in dormitory of the center. Volunteers will pay all their participation fees one time for their sending organizations or directly to banks and fees will be transferred for SJ Vietnam before volunteers come to Vietnam.
