Surin
Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks and 2-4 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: All year round
Description:
Get the chance to work with elephants in a traditional elephant village, located near Surin. Join our project and learn to care for and communicate with your own elephant in the traditional Mahout language. This project enables you to learn more about these gentle giants. You will spend the time learning the skills of the Mahout (elephant handler) and get to ride your elephant through the forest. You will normally have your own elephant to look after, with the help of the Mahout. You will feed it in the morning and take it for a bath in the afternoons. Something that you will remember forever. You can also get involved in supporting the village's elephant population by planting bamboo and a type of wild grass, which will help feed the elephants, in the dry season.
