Description:
Get your hands dirty and help the local community by building homes for poor communities near Voi, Kenya. This is a great opportunity to totally immerse yourself in the Kenyan village life, contribute something positive to the community and make lifelong friends along the way. Kenya is a fascinating and diverse country and this trip gives you a real opportunity to experience the magic that is way beyond the regular tourist activities of safari's and cocktails by the beach - an experience to savour! *What the project does and why it needs you! The project is based in Mbololo, a small village situated 12 kms from Voi town, around two and a half hours from Mombasa city. The project was started by a local man in 2003 as a result of the living situation of some of the villagers. It carries out construction of houses for free with its main target being the abandoned orphans whose parents have died from HIV/AIDS and also the poorest community members. So far the project has been able to build over 35 houses in the village and also support a number of poor high school students to ensure they are able to attend school.
Highlights:
* Immersing yourself in Kenyan village life * Getting your hands dirty and making a real impact in the village * Learning to dance the Kenyan way - ask and the community will teach you!
