India
Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: 5th - 26th July, 26h July - 16th Aug, 16th Aug - 6th Sept
Description:
The Hyderabad project involves working with the registered Indian charity Bhumi on a wide range of activities. Part of your time will be spent working with other Bhumi volunteers, testing the development of 6 month old babies to pick up on any delays(full training provided before the trip). You will also work with babies and children with special needs using a technique called Intensive Interaction (again full training provided) and take part in various other activities within the community including teaching English in a slum for 100,000 people.
Highlights:
There are many highlights to our project in Hyderabad, one being the opportunity to work alongside Indian volunteers of a similar age many of whom you will become good friends with. You will also be able to see how your valuable work will be followed up after you leave and working with Bhumi you will see the change that can be achieved by helping people to help themselves for many years to come.
Qualifications:
We do not ask our volunteers to have any qualifications before volunteering with us but we do advise volunteers to gain some experience with babies and young children before volunteering in Hyderabad to ensure that they are well prepared. Any volunteers with qualifications in the health or educational field are welcome to apply as a specialist volunteer.
