Volunteer Nicaragua: Orphanage for Girls

  Nicaragua
    Granada

Durations of Program: 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks, 3-6 months and 7-12 months
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: open

Description: Nuns run the Orphanage for Girls, which houses 50 female orphans. Volunteers will work with the nuns, nurses, and assistants to support the overall mission of the organization: to provide psychological services, spiritual guidance and various life skills to girls who are orphans, in order to empower them to become happy and healthy young women. As a volunteer, you should be committed to improving the social and emotional welfare of the girls in the orphanage through observation, assistance, and diverse projects that will be developed on-site. You will be helping the staff give each girl the attention they need to develop as mature and healthy adults. You will also be asked to do various tasks around the orphanage such as preparing meals and helping with homework.

Volunteer Nicaragua: Orphanage for Girls

Highlights: The orphanage for girls is located in Barrio La Sabaneta near Granada. Granada is the oldest colonial city founded in Central America. It is the oldest and most important city in the region. Along the narrow streets of this colonial city and outside its urban limits, there is plenty to explore.

uVolunteer anticipates and encourages your desire for travel and adventure. Your time away from volunteering is open for you to decide your activities. You may decide to take advantage of the local culture and spend time within the community over the weekend. Otherwise, there is ample opportunity to explore Nicaragua and all it has to offer.

Great weekend trips include:
