Description: You will be living with the Maasai tribe. The culture in this area is mostly reflected through its people, their customs, traditions, society, art, dance and music. Volunteers help greatly by giving lectures on how important it is to dispose some of these cultural behaviors that lead to high mortality rates among many teenage girls.

Volunteer Kenya: Masai Community Development

Highlights: The culture in this area is reflected through its people, their customs, traditions, society, art, dance and music. The main influence of this country is the Swahili Culture and the Maasai culture. The Maasai clothing is unique with its extremely colorful and heavily embroidered appearance. The people of the tribe also love to wear heavy jewelry, headgears, necklaces, nose rings, earrings, armlets, anklets and others.

uVolunteer believes that you should have a well balanced work and play schedule. This means you will only be required to work 5 days per week (Monday to Friday) for a maximum of 6 hours per day. For the remainder of your time, you will be free to enjoy the vacationing aspects of your trip. uVolunteer anticipates and encourages your desire for travel and adventure. Your time away from volunteering is open for you to decide your activities. You may decide to take advantage of the local culture and spend time within the community over the weekend. Otherwise, there is ample opportunity to explore Kenya and all it has to offer. Our local representative will inform you on the safest places to travel.
