Description: VCN implements football and other sporting disciplines as one of its programs. Share your passion for football with African children from deprived backgrounds. Working in communities, you will help them to develop their sporting skills.

You will have the opportunity to help harness and develop that talent! The organization runs the program in collaboration with soccer clubs (divisions 1&2 and colts) and schools. Volunteer(s) Role Work with children from various deprived backgrounds, including orphans, street children and among others.

Football Coaching

Highlights: The Football Volunteer(s) Program operates in mainly the Abeokuta, lagos, ibadan and ekiti. During your program, you will have the opportunity to take part in the following program activities:

- Assist coaches in football training through skill development, coordination skills, game preparation and training drills.
- Help in the organization of training sessions and competitions
- Referee short games for children at the project and in the local community
- Give advice and lessons on football tactics
- Teach new sports exercises and provide advice on health issues and requirements
- Take part in football camps and local tournaments
- Optional teaching within the academy or local schools. In your spare hours each day you will also have the fantastic opportunity to teach within local schools in the area placed. The schools will vary in their facilities, but generally consist of a few classrooms with about 20 children desks and a blackboard, so there are loads of opportunities for you to be creative in your role and make the lessons memorable for the children! The human resource services requires the following;

* Academy instructors

Qualifications: Coaches or Sports experts with diploma, bachelors in physical and heath education and those undergoing coaching training.

  • Cost Include Description:
    All volunteers pay a Participation / Registration fee upon arrival for 2 weeks to one month stay on the project. This covers Airport pick-up and drop-off, Program Orientation, Administrative work, food and accommodation while on the project. Payment is made after Orientation the next day. Full payment is made based on how long the volunteer wants to stay.

    What is Included:

    Airport Pick Up: Upon arrival, our staff will be at the Airport to pick you up. Please do not forget to send us your flight information and we guarantee, you will never miss us at the airport.

    Orientation: Orientation about the local culture, history, safety, religious, and other issues relating to the country.

    Accommodation: You will be staying with a host family, within a rented house and volunteer will stay either in a single or shared room. All our families are middle-class and live in safe neighborhoods. The distance from the project varies. The family will provide three meals a day.

    Compensation: The program fee also covers compensation for local families and hosts who supply accommodation and food for each volunteer. Staying with a host family will allow you to truly be immersed in the local culture.

    Food: In most cases your meals are cooked and provided for you by your host family. You will be getting 2/3 Meals per day. Breakfast and Supper is provided during weekdays when volunteers are on placements and lunch is provided some weekends when volunteers are in their host home. If you're a vegetarian or have any allergies, this is taken into account when we arrange your placement.

    Safety: Your well being while volunteering with us is our priority. We make sure your trip is safe and our in-country coordinator will provide whatever support you may need at any step along the way.
