Description: As a volunteer on the disabled children in India programme, you will be engaging with mentally and physically challenged children who are so often neglected in society. Jaipur has very limited access to special education as there is lack of awareness, poverty and empathy in the communities, leading to a shortfall in education and care possibilities.

If you are an enthusiastic and sensitive person this project needs you to volunteer with disabled children in India. One of your roles will be to provide attention, care and show affection to such uncared for children. Volunteering with disabled children in India will make a significant difference to the children's morale and sense of self worth.

Disabled Children India

Highlights: On arrival at Jaipur airport you will be met by one of our representatives who will take you to your accommodation. The staff will ensure that you settle into your new home and on the following day they will host an induction.

Even though activities differ as per the disabilities of the children, some common activities that volunteers can carry out are:

* Teaching English and basic arithmetic to those who are able to learn
* Preparation of teaching and learning materials according to the children's special needs
* Family visits for creating greater sensitivity and greater interest amongst parents for the education of their children.
* Confidence building mentoring
* Help in organising picnics, excursions and other educational visits
* Help in organising health check ups
* Help in organising various indoor and outdoor games of which they capable of
* Identifying their areas of interest and helping them to improving in skill
* Morale boosting of teachers through cooperation and appreciation.
* Specially educated volunteers can carry out improvements in the curriculum in cooperation with the teachers.
* Training of music, paintings and other fine arts to which they are capable of
* Training of vocational skills like weaving, carpentry etc.
* Preparation of individual case studies for maintaining records of progress
* Participating birthday celebrations and other social occasions

Volunteer with disabled children in India and you will indeed make a difference in Indian society.

Qualifications:
* You do not need any formal training or experience to participate but whatever experience you do have will be taken into account when arranging your day-to-day activities.
* Having a caring nature and showing affection are considered to be of vital importance.
* Volunteers need to be independent, enthusiastic and adaptable, hard working and with an open-minded attitude.
* International volunteers welcome.
