Teaching English in Nepal in a government school & buddhist monasteries. Thousands of children are deprived of educational opportunities in Nepal because of many social issues and the lack of schooling opportunities. In this program volunteers are placed in Government, community & Semi Private or boarding schools to teach English to Nepali children. As a Volunteer in this program you may be working as the sole teacher in the classroom or in partnership with a Nepali teacher. You may also find that due to the number of Teaching English volunteers that you will be the sole volunteer in a placement. In some schools Nepali teachers will step down in order for you to take their classes, we do not encourage this and strongly recommend that volunteers work in partnership with Nepali teachers to introduce new practical teaching methods to the classroom that can be carried on after your placement. Your duties as a volunteer in Nepal: - Teach English and art to a remote communities - Paint and plastering old orphanage home and school - Teach children/youngsters/ woman's group about basic hygiene - Play /sport coaching in Government school or at the community centre 2. Volunteer in Nepal. Child Care Orphanage volunteer project Volunteering at an orphanage in Nepal will give you a unique opportunity to make a real contribution to Nepali society, while simultaneously experiencing the rich culture and difference aspects of urban and rural life in Nepal. The work will vary for each orphanage as some will require you to be available to teach whereas others you will not have this opportunity. When you arrive at your assigned orphanage you will talk to the onsite staff and they will run through your particular responsibilities. Often there will be a volunteer in your placement who has started in a previous month and they are an excellent source of information and direction. Your duties as a volunteer in Orphanage in Nepal: It is necessary that volunteers are flexible and willing to adapt to situations as they happen. Volunteers cannot predict what each day may bring. Those Volunteers that are placed where they will teach should expect to do so for a full day. There may be a lot more planning required of them compared to those volunteers where the orphaned children attend local schools. Volunteers in Nepal work 6 days a week and from 4 to 6 hours a day.
