Durations of Program: 5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks, 3-6 months, 7-12 months and 1-2 years
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: Throughout the year

Description: As a volunteer in Uganda you will have the opportunity to help disadvantaged children by teaching them basic sport skills. The Town's Sports Academy is the only one of its kind in the local area and is becoming more and more popular everyday. This means there are currently 630 children being taught by only 6 instructors. They desperately need enthusiastic overseas volunteers to help out this worthwhile cause.

Children's Sports Coach Uganda

Highlights: On Arrival: When you arrive in Uganda you will start a 3-day induction and orientation.

Day 1: The first day of the induction takes place in Kampala, where you will be taken around the city and shown useful places such as banks, main hospitals, the post office and embassy. There will also be other basic induction activities.

Day 2: The second day involves travelling to Masaka on public transport, which is a three-hour drive from Kampala. Masaka is the nearest town to the project site so this is a great opportunity to find out what facilities it has to offer that you might want to use during your weekends. From here you will travel to the host family or volunteer house, where you will be staying for the duration of the program.

Day 3: On the third day you will be introduced to the project you will be working on as well as some of the local culture and language. After the three day induction the work on the project begins.

On the project you will be:

Teaching the children, improving their sporting skills and helping the academy to network with similar projects. You will be working 5 days a week for 4 - 5 hours. The working days are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Therefore Wednesday and Sunday are free days for you so do as you please.

A typical day working on the project:

The day starts at 8:30 - 9:00am with breakfast and ends at 4:30pm.
After breakfast you will head straight to the academy for 10:00 am where you teach/train until 1:00pm.
You will then take a break for lunch, which is served at 1:30pm.
You will then return to the academy at 4:00pm for the last session which finishes at 6:00pm.
You will then return back to your accommodation to relax. Dinner is served between 8:00 and 8:30pm and the evening is then free time for you to do as you please.
