Volunteering in Ecuador on Indigenous Communities

  Ecuador
  • All Other Regions of Ecuador:
  • Rural Areas

Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 3-6 months

Description: Centro del Amanecer Educational Foundation is currently working with marginal rural communities that need immediate support in education. Because of this, we have rendered urgent assistance providing teacher trainings and searching for improvements in their infrastructure. We also help volunteers that wish to actively contribute on a daily basis as teachers in the communities.

Here is where Integra-Ecuador project, part of the Foundation, helps with volunteers that wish to help as teachers in schools in these marginal and far from the city communities where basic public utilities, such as telephone, are lacking. Most of these schools have only one teacher and are placed in bilingual Quechua-Spanish communities.

Mainly, the job of the volunteer will be to teach, most of the times English classes and other classes depending on his/her Spanish level.
