Description: Volunteering with Animals in India: Carers needed for the treatment of poorly and neglected animals in the exciting city of Jaipur ...

Animal Rescue Care Volunteer India

Highlights: The Animal Rescue Care programme aims to protect and care for abandoned and mistreated animals in Jaipur. Volunteers will play an active role in providing care for rescued animals, community awareness campaigns and direct treatment of sick and abandoned animals. The project includes an in-depth orientation period and requires no veterinary experience from volunteers, only a love of animals and an eagerness to help. Participants will also benefit from local cultural excursions and organised workshops that will further immerse them in Indian culture.

Rapid urbanisation is taking place in most parts of India. This very often occurs at the expense of many animals health and well being. Areas once inhabited freely by animals are quickly being encroached upon by urban development. These unfamiliar urban environments leave animals vulnerable to mistreatment, disease, and inadequate nourishment.

In cities like Jaipur, where poverty and poor infrastructure are the main issues, taking care of neglected animals is usually considered a distant priority of the government and private social activists alike. India has laws in place that protect animals but they are not effectively enforced, nor are they taken seriously by most of the community.
