Medical Program In Ecuador

Durations of Program: 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks

Description: This medical program was founded in 1984 with the objective of providing adequate medical assistance for people with disabilities who cannot afford private service. Approximately 20 Ecuadorian doctors volunteer at the center, as well as local university students.

Volunteer activities may include:
* Assisting professionals in the following areas: general medicine, rehab, visual, nursing assistance, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and more.
* Help nurses in the general medicine area.
* Assist in the rehabilitation area.
* Support doctors filling out patient histories, checking blood pressure, and other duties.
* Helping children with speech therapy.
* And other assistance requested by the staff and medical professionals.

Qualifications: Volunteers should have an enthusiastic attitude and keen interest in the medical field, activities would be assigned according to participant's experience. Basic knowledge of Spanish is needed.
