Ranchstay in Canada

  Canada
  • British Columbia:
  • Vancouver

Durations of Program: 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks

Description: Escape the noisy street corners, crowded bars and over-packed sandwich shops and come to beautiful Canada where you can spend some quality time on a ranch or farm getting in touch with your inner country-loving self. You will stay with a family on their farm and learn all about the farmer/rancher way of life. Spend the work week surrounded by tractors, horses, cattle and fresh air and then relax on the weekends at the local rodeo events, market fairs and country music festivals.

* Who is it for?
This experience is perfect for anyone looking for a change of pace. Whether you are a city person aching for the country or a country person looking to explore a new country, this trip is perfect for you!

* What you'll be doing
You will get involved in a whole host of activities depending on your interest and exactly which farm/ranch you are placed with. We will do our best to match you up with the farm/ranch that most interests you.

Choices include: cattle ranches, horse breeding or training ranches (horse-riding experience required), vineyards, sheep/grain farms, alpaca farms or mixed farms.

* Where you'll be staying
You will be staying in single, simple, comfortable accommodation on the ranch/farm. The details will depend on exactly which farm or ranch you are matched with. You could be in a tent, trailer or room in the family home.

* What you'll be eating
You will have traditional ranch food including lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.

* Advice and what to bring
Be sure to pack some sturdy outdoor clothing that can hold up to the demands of ruff and tumble ranch life.

* When you arrive
You will be met at the airport and taken to your accommodation. You will have an orientation at the team office in Vancouver the following morning and then you will head off to your farm/ranch that afternoon.
