Description:
Volunteers will teach conversational English, Math, or Science to students who are between the ages of 5 -10 in primary schools and 11-16 in junior secondary schools. They will also read literature and improve the low comprehension level and poor pronunciation of students, provide theoretical and practical assistance and aide the teachers and interact with the students. Typical day involves eating breakfast early morning and then going to teach the students for the first half of the day. After lunch, volunteers will then help other teachers in school and arrange extracurricular activities like games in the school. Evenings and weekends are free time for the volunteer to experience the immense culture of the cities. Nigeria has 3 academic semesters a year: 1st Term: Start Date: January 10 to April 12 School Holiday : April 13 to May 1 2nd Term: Start Date: May 2 to August 4 School Holiday : August 5 to September 12 3rd Term: Start Date: September 13 to December 15 School Holiday : December 16 to January 1 Dates of academic semesters can change During the school holidays, holiday classes would be organized for the school children and volunteers will be taken for sightseeing.

At least a High school graduate.
