Clinic & Medical Assistance
Zambia
Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: All year
Description:
Zambia is one of the world's poorest countries & as a result, health care & provisions suffer as much as any other public service sector in the country. While structures are in place for an effective heath care service, there is an enormous deficit in terms of staff & resources.
Highlights:
Volunteers will be invaluable in reducing workloads for the staff, but will never be required to make decisions regarding patient treatment. After spending the morning in a clinic, volunteers will help the local community through these programs: Build & Paint Schools, Home Based Care/Farming, & the Elephant Pepper Project - an organization that aims to reduce conflict between farmers & elephants. Optional Add-ons: Project Excursions - White water rafting, bungee jumping & gorge swings, sunset cruises, elephant-back or canoeing safaris 3-Day Antelope Park Package - Visit the world's first lion rehabilitation & release into the wild program. Ride elephants, go game viewing on horseback, on foot or in a vehicle, relax on a boat ride, canoe or fish. 6-Day Antelope Park, Miombo, & Victoria Falls Package - In addition to Antelope Park, you'll visit Miombo & Victoria Falls. While there, you can dare to go white water rafting below the falls or bungee jump 111m. off the Victoria Falls Bridge! 10-Day Sightseeing Package - This comprehensive package includes visits to Antelope Park, Victoria Falls, Camp Sita Tunga, the Okavenga Delta, as well as Zimbabwe & Botswana game reserves.
