Wildlife Photography & Conservation

  South Africa
  • Other Cities in South Africa:
  • Rural Areas

Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: All year

Description: What is lacking in current educational syllabus is a detailed photographic database of the wildlife in the St. Lucia area. Volunteers will contribute by taking photographs of as many wildlife species as possible. The best pictures will be included in our database. In addition, we will assist in getting some of the best pictures published in magazines &/or books. The project is a unique opportunity to encounter some of Africa's most beautiful animals on a daily basis, improve photography skills, & contribute to conservational efforts.

Wildlife Photography & Conservation

Highlights: In the impressive setting of the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, a recently designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, volunteers will photograph the phenomenal wildlife in the area & help raise awareness in the local community about the importance of conservation.

Optional add-ons:
Project Excursions - Game drives in Hluhluwe, Umfolozi, Mozambique or Kruger National Parks; snorkeling at Cape Vidal; whale, dolphin & sea turtle viewing; deep sea fishing; & sunset cruises on St. Lucia Estuary.

Johannesburg Day Tours - Visit Soweto for an insightful view into township life in South Africa, take a game drive in the Pilanesburg Game Reserve, or tour Pretoria, known as the Jacaranda City.

2-3 Day Pilanesberg Park Safari Package - Safari drives, huge walk-in aviaries, game watching, safe hiking trails & optional flight over the park in a hot-air balloon.

Qualifications: This program is available for group bookings 10+.
