Description:
This specific opportunity calls for individuals with experience in construction management to help facilitate the building of the Nkabom Center of Project Okurase in Ghana. The intern will aid in teaching and training others, surveying local needs, planning projects as well as gaining valuable hands on experience all in the realm of construction management. This internship will be one step in the realization of Project Okurase's goal to develop a model for a community of green design and sustainable architecture in a village setting for AIDS/HIV orphans.

Qualifications:
-Isla intern applicants should be 18 or older and possess a desire to learn about and live in another culture. -Some experience / qualifications in construction management is preferred. -Candidates should be at college, graduate or professional levels, though we also accept applications from "gap-year", working professionals, and retirees. Qualities required are: dependability for your service-learning assignment, adaptability, strong people-skills and a desire to have fun by serving and learning from new communities and environments through cross-cultural exchange. Cost in US$: From USD3195 for 6 weeks with each additional week increasing by USD195, plus USD85 application fee.
Cost Include Description:
Program fees include your placement, pre-departure web-based training in sustainable community development, in-country cross-cultural orientation and materials, basic language training, room and board, mid-service development workshops and reflection group sessions, final debriefing and evaluation, medical and emergency evacuation insurance, safety and security, transfers from/to the airport to the training site, and experienced Isla staff. Not included - Domestic and international airfare and airport taxes, the cost of your passport, visas, and immunizations, and laundry service.
