Description: If you like to travel and are passionate about environmental conservation, planting trees, and combating climate change, we need you! Plant A Tree Today (PATT) Foundation is on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers from around the world to join us here in Thailand. You would primarily do community and school outreach to inspire others to plant more trees and take action to care for our environment. With the help of volunteers placed around the country, we can get all of Thailand moving toward a greener way of life. Initial training is provided, however, once in placement, daily supervision is much less intensive. Therefore, volunteers need to be self-starters. Specific activities will vary from location to location, but typically include:

* Developing and conducting workshops for the community on environmental issues
* Arranging and conducting school tree planting trips, establishment of tree nurseries
* Giving presentations to schools on environmental education topics
* Leading environmental campaigns in your area

During your stay you will learn about the importance of Community Forestry and see how important information can be, especially to those living in more remote areas with limited access. All applicants should be pro-active, not afraid to speak in public, and able to adapt to a language barrier. So don't wait any longer. Join the fight against climate change Today!

Schedule/Location
Volunteers can join the program on the first Tuesday of every month. You should arrange to arrive in Bangkok on the day prior (Monday). Placements can last for 1, 2, or 3 months.

Training begins on the first Tuesday of every month and lasts for 4 days. You will then have the weekend free in Bangkok and travel to your placement in another part of Thailand on Sunday night or Monday, depending on placement location and available transport. Training will include Thai language and culture, Introduction to PATT, Tree Planting & Community Forestry workshops, Health & Safety, Orientation to Bangkok, and personalized placement consultations. Placement locations vary according to need, but are typically in the Chiang Mai province of northern Thailand.

Cost
A deposit of 100 GBP will secure your placement. After that, the remaining Program Fee is
* 1 Month: 497 GBP
* 2 Months: 797 GBP
* 3 Months: 1097 GBP

The Program Fee covers airport pickup, all your food and accommodation while on placement, all training costs, transport out to your placement, supervision and support.

Costs not covered by the Program Fee include international flights to/from Bangkok, Tourist visa, transport back to Bangkok (or other onward destination) after placement, travel insurance, personal costs such as internet, laundry, etc.

Typical Volunteer: Someone studying or who has studied environmental sciences and would like to increase knowledge and impact communities directly. This person loves to experience new things, is passionate about preserving the environment and is enthusiastic about spreading the word to others, getting them to take ACTION. This person is adaptable, outgoing and self-motivated, not afraid to ask questions, works well with people from different cultures, and has an interest in Thai people and language.

Plant A Tree Today Foundation's Mission Statement: The Plant-A-Tree-Today (PATT) Foundation is a UK registered Charity and a registered Thai Foundation with an operational office in Bangkok, Thailand covering SE Asia. It was established to react to problems caused by the massive and increasing levels of deforestation worldwide, raise awareness of environmental issues and the role forests play, take action against climate change, educate children on these issues and to PLANT MORE TREES. We currently work within Asia to raise awareness of global environmental issues, campaign for better environmental practices, take action against climate change, implement reforestation projects as well as provide funding for partner projects, set up school tree nurseries and provide environmental education, and fund community development projects in rural communities centred on tree planting and reforestation.
