Teach Tennis/Coach's Assistant at a Top Level Tennis Academy in Ecuador
Ecuador
Durations of Program: 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: Arrival in Quito every Sunday and Program starts every Monday
Description:
Help create the next Serena Williams or Rafael Nadal. Teach your skills to children and adults learning the sport you love, all while enjoying the beautiful country of Ecuador. Tennis is one of the many sports practiced in Ecuador, which requires intelligence, thought and fitness. This volunteer experience will allow the participant to work as an assistant coach at a tennis club in the heart of Quito. The assistant will help the players to improve their tennis skills, physical abilities, fitness and coordination. You will also be involved in playing games. The participant will be working with children as well as adult players, who will show high enthusiasm and a positive attitude to learn and improve.
Highlights:
Volunteer Role: The coach's assistants will be involved in the one to one and group training lessons and also in the fitness preparation for both individual and group clients. They would conduct drills and evaluate student performance in coordination with the main coach and will also have the chance to use the club facilities while in their placement. They would be encouraged to help and/or participate in weekend tournaments and events. Location:The project is located in an urban area in a residential neighborhood of Quito. Accommodations and Meals: Volunteers will stay at a host family. Host families are located in good residential neighborhoods in Quito. Home stays have been selected after an application process to make sure they have everything participants need. Breakfast and dinner is served in the host family's homes. In your free time you can enjoy the following activities: * Enjoy the Old Town-churches, government, squares and shopping. The historic old town of Colonial Quito is the jewel in Ecuador's crown. The city was designated the first UNESCO World Heritage City in 1978 in recognition of the importance of its colonial architecture (ahead of cities like Bath and Venice). Quito is the city that has the best-preserved, least altered historic centre in Latin America. The monasteries of San Francisco and Santo Domingo, and the Church and Jesuit College of La Compania, with their rich interiors, are pure examples of the 'Baroque school of Quito', which is a fusion of Spanish, Italian, Moorish, Flemish and indigenous art. * Visit the "Middle of the World City" where the monument that divides the Northern Hemisphere from the Southern is located. It was built during the XVII century when a French Expedition defined the precise location of the equatorial line. The Ethnographic Museum can also be visited. * You can't miss the Teleferico, this is a cable car that takes passengers up the flanks of Pichincha Volcano to the top of Cruz Loma. The view form here is spectacular.
