Background: Reach Out is a women and youth centered organization operating in the South West Region of Cameroon with head office in Great Soppo - Buea and field offices in Mundemba, Bamusso, Mamfe, focal points in Kumba, Limbe (within the Provincial Hospital) and Idenau. Created in 1996, the organization obtained its legal status in the year 2000. Value: We stand for the voiceless through commitment, transparency and accountability in the execution of our programmes for better livelihoods. Mission Statement: We support under-privileged groups within the communities on health issues, wealth creation and provide capacity building and information through the use of participatory approaches and advocacy. Main Objestive: Under-privileged groups are sustainably empowered economically and in the fight against HIV/AIDS in their communities. Reach Out operates in Three key areas in order to achieve the above mentioned strategic orientations: 1) Institutional Capacity Strenghtening 2) Health related issues with main focus on HIV/AIDS (Reducing the Prevalence of HIV/AIDS 3) poverty Alleviation (Improving Household Incomes) Current Activities 1) Institutional Capacity Strenghtening (Detailed in the Operational Plan) 2) HIV/AIDS - Care and support to orphans and vulnerable children - Home based care and psychosocial assistance to HIV/AID infected persons - Community mobilisation/sensitization - Behaviour Change Communication (Positive Prevention) - Advocacy 3) Poverty Alleviation - Capacity Building for beneficiairies - Establishement of Micro projects - Small Revolving loan schemes (Micro Financing) Target Group Our concern is for the following beneficiaries: - Orphans and Vulnerable children (OVCs) - People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs) - Widows and Single Mothers - Community Based Organisations (mostly women's and Youth's) - Minority Groups Cost: USD 325 for a less than one month stay, USD 375 for a one month stay. USD 650 for a two month stay, USD 300 beyond two months stay. Highlights:
The role of the volunteer will be to work within the operational framework of the organisation. It maybe in any of the following: 1. Office routine work 2. Establish a good filing system for the organization 3. Assist the organisation in resource mobilisation and fund raising 4. Providing care and support to orphans and vulnerable children 5. Conduct home based care activities to people living with HIV/AIDS 6. Carry out community mobilsation and sensitisation on HIV/AIDS activities and on issues related to poverty alleviation 7. Take part in the organisation of the Candlelight Memorial Events( January -May) 8. Assist the organisation to establish micro projects for beneficiaries 9. Assist in the running of the small revolving loan scheme project( Micro finance project) . 10. Train Groups on Life Skills and in other areas of interest
