Description:
Global Rural Community Development Nepal is looking for international volunteers and partner organizations. Our aim is to help and develop rural poor areas in Nepal. Our goals are: 1) Free medication, counseling, information and training in various areas to people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. 2) Education to illiterate, widowed and/or underprivileged women and provide training in practical skills such as handicraft, cooking, etc. 3) Awareness programs for the community around issues such as the environment, health and hygiene, drugs, etc. 4) Social awareness to the community and protect the rights of children and women. 5) Placements for skilled and unskilled volunteers (for individuals, families and/or groups) in a welcoming and safe environments such as orphanages, libraries, schools, health clinics, hospital, etc. 6) Volunteers with the opportunity to visit the main tourist sights and exchange cultural experiences.
Highlights:
Since its inception, GRCD has been running volunteer programs for rural community development support and cultural exchanges. The major programs of GRCD which are available year-round include English teaching, orphanage, conservation work, health and sanitation issues, and so forth as per the interest of volunteers. GRCD offers volunteer programs in diverse areas through the collaboration with local partners; therefore volunteers can choose an area of work according to their interest and experience. GRCD volunteer programs are not only based on volunteer placement, we also customize the programmes in accordance with the need, interest and experience of our volunteers. And, we offer rigorous and amazing two-week-long cultural and language immersion programme for international volunteers before their placement. We accept volunteers throughout the year for a period of 2-12 weeks.
Qualifications:
No formal qualifications are required of our volunteers. We seek people who are enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about the rights and welfare of our children and the rural communities in Nepal.
