Description: ELEP offers volunteers a unique opportunity to teach in a rural or urban community school in Ecuador. ELEP has volunteer teaching opportunities throughout this magic country to teach a variety of subjects in primary or secondary schools.

Subjects taught are: mathematics, language and communication (covering reading, grammar and writing of the Spanish or English language), creative activities (teaching music, art, manual work, dance, etc), natural sciences (including environmental studies), history and social studies (covering aspects of Ecuador including geography), basic computer skills and physical education. Volunteers will be guided by the teachers, but will have a lot of freedom as to the subjects they teach and how they teach them here is where your creativity really counts.

Make a real difference to the lives of some of Ecuador's much-needed people. This program allows you to teach or assist teaching your native language in places with the most need in urban or rural areas of Ecuador. This is a great way to improve the education of children most in need and at the same time have a very memorable experience. This program allows volunteers to experience the wonder of this country while making a positive contribution to its development.

You don't have to be a teacher to volunteer in Ecuador on our English teaching or education-teaching projects. The main goal of this volunteer project is to promote the education and to help children to improve their academic knowledge. For this reason, you will always find a warm welcome awaits you from our students around Ecuador.

Program Overview

Duration: You can join this program from 4 week up to 24 weeks
Start Dates: Flexible. Our volunteer program starts on any date of your choice throughout the year. Volunteers need to arrive at least one day before the start of their program.
Work Schedule: Participants will be volunteering from Monday through Friday and from 07:30 am 12:30 pm
Accommodation: Each volunteer lives with a local family as a member of the household. The families provide three meals a day and have boiled water available for drinking and a private room. The meals consist of traditional Ecuadorian food. Families are carefully selected to ensure that volunteers enjoy their time in Ecuador.

Qualifications:
Although no formal teaching experience or qualifications are required, volunteers should have an enthusiastic interest in teaching while simultaneously being a notable role model for these children. Volunteers should be eager to teach and care for these children. Besides, you should also enjoy working with children and be able to think on your feet and come up with creative ways of educating the children.

Since you will be teaching students, you will be expected to dress appropriately. No shorts or sleeveless shirts are to be worn and volunteers must maintain a presentable appearance. Working with children requires patience and flexibility. Volunteers should have a basic understanding of the Spanish language in order to effectively work within these school-based projects.

20 hours of Spanish lessons for free + volunteer project + accommodation

8 weeks = $ 1050 in the mainland / $ 1320 on the Galapagos
40 hours of Spanish lessons for free + volunteer project + accommodation

12 weeks = $ 1500 in the mainland / $ 1900 on the Galapagos
60 hours of Spanish lessons for free + volunteer project + accommodation

Extra week: $ 105 in the mainland and $ 150 on the Galapagos
