Description:
Volunteers will be teaching in elementary and secondary schools within Malindi Municipality of the coast province of Kenya in east Africa. They will be attached to a supervisor teacher who will orient them on the curriculum and formally introduce them to the students. All volunteers will teach within the laid down syllabus as approved by the Kenya institute of education. Extra curricular studies, and recreation activities will be conducted after school hours. The volunteers will be leaving the host family early in the morning to make it in time for the school parade and staff briefing before being dispatched to their various class rooms. Highlights:
Malindi Town is on the coastal part of Kenya, 100 kilometers from Mombasa. It's a very safe town and with a sizeable number of foreign visitors coming to the local hotels for budget holidays. Volunteers will be staying in a host family as that is one of our strongest pillars and policy towards our formation. Work runs from Monday to Friday and the weekends are left free for sightseeing and visiting the local site around which include: * visiting the beach for a swim * visiting the gedi ruins(historical site0 * visiting the snake park. Also time can be spent buying souvenirs and participating in any other social activities during that time as advised by host family or Touch Africa.
Qualifications:
Qualifications for the Program: * One must be a teacher back at home with at least 1 year experience. * should provide us with detailed CV * should be have a good written and spoken English. * should not be handicapped or disabled * should have a valid visa to stay in Kenya ; mostly a visitors visa is okay * should provide us with a photocopy of their passport and travel insurance policy. * should agree to stay with a host family just like any other volunteers.

Experience Required: yes
One year experience is useful for the teachers so that they can swing into action immediately and avoid wasting time on orientation at the expense of students.
