Description:
This hogar comunitario (community daycare centre) assists underprivileged families by caring for children while parents are working. The daycare centre, like most of the daycare centres in the country, is run by one woman who could use help caring for the young children. There are typically 10-ish kids of various ages. It is great having assistance keeping up with all the energy and give a hand to teachers, also to take care of side projects the staff do not have time for. Volunteers can assist by doing the following tasks: - reading with the kids - caring for children (help facilitating: brushing teeth, nap time, eating, etc.) - tidying - playing with the kids (arts and crafts, side projects, sports, games, etc.) - teaching basic English (to some of the older kids)
Qualifications:
Volunteers must be of age 18 or above with minimum education of high school. This Placement does not need any volunteer in the month of Jan. Volunteers with the following special skills are preferred for the placement: - Child & Youth Worker - Early Childhood Education - At-Risk Youth Work Social Worker (BSW) - Social Work Student - Psychology Student - Day Care Work Social Worker (MSW) Basecamp International welcomes all the interested volunteers from around the world to volunteer and make a difference.

Typical Volunteer: We believe everyone can contribute by volunteering. Recent graduates from high school, college or university, professionals taking a career break, recent retirees, individuals or groups who are interested in a change and the chance to enrich their own life and the lives of others. If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support. Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries.
