Description: Atma Mumbai Volunteer Nareshwadi
Volunteer Position: Summer Camp Coordinators 2009

Nareshwadi:
Nareshwadi Residential School, in a rural area around 3 Hours from Mumbai. Currently a residential school for 450 students, over the academic school year summer break, around 30 children (unable to spend the holiday's with immediate or extended family for a variety of reasons), stay behind on campus during those
holidays.

Atma Mumbai is seeking creative and motivated volunteers to plan and execute a summer camp program for these children for two months from April June 2009. Providing a summer camp of fun and learning for around 30 children aged 7 to 14 in a rural residential school, just outside of Mumbai together with other volunteers.

Period of traineeship:
- Integration & Summer Camp Planning: 3rd-13th of April 2009 in Mumbai.
- Summer Camp Program: 13th April 26th June 2009 in Nareshwadi

Job role:
Working in a team, the two volunteers will be responsible for creating and executing the summer camp program on site. The summer camp will encompass a variety of activities for the children; teaching English, sport activities and games, overall giving the children who stay behind a well deserved holiday on site and with a small trip to Mumbai. The volunteers will need to be extremely motivated and willing to work autonomously in an isolated, rural Indian setting. Candidates with prior experience in handling programs with children, have a range of hobbies and interests and experience in English teaching will be looked upon favorably.

Responsibilities:
- Create and document a summer camp curriculum
- Execute the summer camp curriculum
- Giving the children an unforgettable experience

Housing and working details:
The role will begin with ten days preparation in Mumbai under supervision of an international coordinator. This preparation period will include introduction to India and development and preparation of summer camp program (planning activities and documentation of curriculum details). The volunteers will stay in the Somaiya
Campus International Guesthouse during this period. The volunteers will than move full-time to the guesthouse of the residential school in Nareshwadi. Housing and food will be provided throughout the stay at the rural site.

Expectations:
To work diligently for the organization based on the above mentioned areas, creating focus while remaining flexible within the working environment.

Expectation of Atma Mumbai:
Provide support and guidance throughout the internship period and give preparation information prior to the internship. Assist in adapting to Mumbai city and the rural area and Indian culture and in the working relation with the NGO.

Highlights: Exposure to a real rural development programme in India. Stay on site and work with children from regional tribal groups. High level of responsibility and autonomy with partner volunteer.
