Description:
All placements are for English language assistant teachers. These positions range from 4 to 5 months starting in September and January / February to placements that are 3 months, starting in May. You could be placed at a college, university secondary or primary school; there are four secondary schools, two primary schools and one "Childrens' Palace" for primary school children. Outside the weekly programme of 20 hours' classroom work, private tuition may be arranged. You may even be asked to teach the teachers in order to give them greater confidence in English conversation. In all cases the main focus of the teaching is organizing linguistic activities which will allow pupils to practice English, and leading activities such as conversation, role playing, singing, and debate. Much of the value of a project, and much of its enjoyment, will be in such extracurricular activities as conversation groups, visiting students' homes and playing games.

Winters in the north are fresh, elsewhere they are mild. Most communities are village-based, and the Vietnamese roots are in agriculture and fishing. In spite of urban drift family ties remain strongly influential. Vietnamese people have great charm and humor, are very welcoming and impressively industrious.
