The Teachers for Africa (TFA) and the International Fellows (IFP) programs are initiatives of the International Foundation for Education and Self-Help (IFESH) in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), private donors and various corporations. The TFA and the IFP programs invite applications from schoolteachers, college and university professors, school administrators, college graduates and graduate students, an opportunity to volunteer for nine months with recognized development organizations in sub-Saharan African countries. Since 1992, IFESH has recruited over 1,000 American teacher-trainers to teach in African teacher-training colleges, universities, governmental educational agencies and curriculum institutes, and 700 Fellows to work in various grassroots organizations in Africa. Skills: Most teacher volunteers in Djibouti and Guinea will be teaching either in Colleges of Education or in Education Departments in universities. The focus of the program in these countries is the training of teachers. Applicants need a minimum of a bachelors degree, though applicants with graduate degrees are preferred. Teachers, college professors, college graduates and graduate students who have backgrounds in the following areas are urgently needed to apply: * teacher-training * conducting in and pre-service teacher training workshops * ESL Training * HIV/AIDS awareness * public health information * psychology and early childhood development * nurses * information technology * computer science * mathematics * and monitoring and evaluation activities. French speaking teachers are urgently needed to teach in Senegal, Guinea, Djibouti and Cote D'Ivoire!

Qualifications:
Applicants for the Teachers for Africa Program must be either U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Applicants must also have three years teaching experience. Applicants need a minimum of a bachelors degree, though applicants with graduate degrees are preferred.
Minimum Education: Bachelors
Salary / Pay: Almost all expenses, including the costs for placement, pre-departure expenses, pre-departure orientation, in-country orientation, flight tickets to and from country of placement, health insurance for one academic year, and a monthly stipend will be covered by IFESH while in the field.
