Project Support Throughout your stay in Nepal you will have the support and guidance of the project leaders and team. They will provide you with competent field support and assistance and help you with any questions or support you may need during your stay. The team will be there for you to contact each day and a meeting will also be scheduled for you early on in your placement to give you an extra opportunity to network and socialize with the other volunteers and students in Nepal. In addition, we will provide you with a 24 hour emergency contact number before you depart, so that you can contact one of our UK staff at any time should you need to. Accommodation and Meals You will live with a local family in the village relevant to your placement. If you would prefer to stay in hotel accommodation this can be arranged but we be an extra cost. In a typical placement you will stay with a local family and eat Nepali food twice a day - 9am breakfast/lunch and 7pm dinner. Tea is served in the morning and also in the afternoon. You may also have the opportunity to get together with other volunteers and share your experiences. You will be able to travel to nearby towns to purchase things for daily use and could travel to other areas of Nepal for longer if you wish. Please note: Most village families in Nepal don't have a flushing toilet and use water rather than toilet paper, however it fine for you to take toilet paper with you. A flush toilet can be arranged but please inform us upon booking so we can organize this for you. Free time There are many interesting places to visit in Nepal. Pohkara is one of Nepal's main cities and differs in terms of feel and look. The famed soldiers and the Gurkhas come from around here making it a prosperous and calm area. You will have the opportunity to visit the large lake and Temple Island and witness magnificent views of the Annapurna Range, a truly breathtaking site. Patan is also worth a visit. It is situated in the Kathmandu Valley, only 5 Km from Kathmandu. It is known as the City of Fine Arts and is full of Hindu and Buddhist temples. At the centre of the attractions is Patan Durbar Square, a complex of ancient palaces, temples and shrines in the heart of the town. This place is packed with temples to everyone imaginable, including Vishnu, Shiva, Krishna and Lord Buddha, all dating back as far as 250 B.C.
