South Africa Monkey Rehabilitation
South Africa
Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks and 5-8 weeks
Dates: Throughout the year
Description:
Volunteer Role The project aims to help any injured or orphaned animal, not just monkeys. When ready, the animals are released back into their natural habitat. Another focus and development of the project is to improve animal conservation and government policy. The project requires volunteers to do the following tasks: * Feed animals * Care for animals * Prepare food * Check animals for injuries * Help tend to wounds * Build new enclosures * Plant veggies for the animals' food Your work will probably not be limited to these tasks - as a volunteer in Africa you need to be flexible! You may also work alongside local rural communities and children, teaching and assisting with uplifting schemes.
Highlights:
The unique opportunity to work hands on with beautiful Vervet monkeys and other African wildlife. Not only will you be able to enjoy this close interaction during their rehabilitation, but you will also have the chance to learn vital aspects of ecology and conservation and take part in the monkey releases! You can also combine this work with valuable community work in local disadvantaged communities.
