Description:
Just like other East African beach locations of Lake Victoria, the area espouses acute societal moral degradation among young and old, economic exploitation and school dropouts among other phenomena. The youth are the most affected as many find themselves in situations of parenting, child headed families, child labor, commercial sex work, teenage motherhood and other roles all together. Many girls and young women are sometimes forced to resort to commercial sex placing them at higher risk of contracting HIV/AID and in many cases the girls work for other people making them more prone to abuse and exploitation. This situation has been as a result of poverty in the area. Home Adventure endeavors to provide education and counseling to youth with attention to their physical and emotional changes. The youth together with the organization has been very active in facilitating the exchange programmes to motivate school age girls, education for the youth on sexual and mental health as well as HIV prevention. Most of the workshops are carried out in schools, churches and groups. The message is passed out through different ways like drama, conducting an exchange program between the youth groups, schools or churches. - We advocate against drugs and/or rehabilitate victims of drug abuse. - Discourage irresponsible sex relationship among teenage and dangers of early marriage Teaching behavioral science on how habits are acquired developed and maintained to mould participants into responsible members of society.
