We welcome you to the Meaningfully Adventure Volunteer Work Camps Organized by Foot to Afrika to be held in Tanzania East Africa, the land of Mighty Kilimanjaro. Here at Foot 2 Afrika we want you to experience the real Tanzania. We are a small, vibrant, multicultural company and our adventures and projects reflect our company ethos: that fundamentally we are both very interested in what we do and love to immerse ourselves in the Tanzanian culture and heritage. We are true partnership in Developments. Our ideas can be call "Bridges for Innovation" aimed at building capacities of existing NGOs working in Tanzania and East Africa over time. Given the necessary hands, tools, publicity and exposure, local people are the best agents to enact more sustainable social change in their own communities. Providing locally based organizations with access to effective resources, and training in areas of common interest and creating a forum for sharing of areas of "best practice" within NGO management, with guest speakers etc. would allow them to better serve their clientele. We're currently looking for other worldwide based organizations, collages, Universities, Schools with the same goal to have a partnership with us and work together for the betterment of Tanzania. We can tailor make you programme and arrange everything at your budget if you are interested to explore East Africa in various sphere you have never come through. We are neither religious, Political, Races nor Origin oriented. The group can choose one of the Codes Number of Work Programme and get the full programme with date. The full programme covers 3 weeks however you can extend and get some discounts. 1 more weeks you get 5% and two more weeks you get 10% discount. The Maasai Land: We aim to create more cultural awareness by continually interpreting of Western culture to reduce illiteracy, give women strength and awareness of their prevailing problems, family planning, education and cultural attitudes towards the environment and local bio-diversity. Equally, the project aims to offer guidance to Maasai pastoralism on sustainable land use, self awareness on the common diseases caused mainly by lack of hygiene and to help reduce illiteracy within their community. To meet the latter requirement we will be offering basic literacy classes to more than 150 Maasai. A third goal as mentioned earlier will be to eradicate female genital mutilation as well as educating people on various dangerous aspects of superstitions. The final goal at present will be to inform and implement healthy and nutritious dietary plans in order to reduce infant mortality rates. The prospective volunteer will be given the opportunity to work directly with the Maasai community. However, they will always be supported and assisted by local Maasai representatives who will assist with translation difficulties and any other cultural barriers that may arise. 1. The Project: In order to meet the above objectives, all Meaningful Adventure Volunteer Work placements will be divided in four folders as follows: 1.1 Work: Volunteers will be involved in Environmental activities like Nature Reserve, Planting trees, Cleaning of beaches and other public places. Construction of on building primary school classrooms, Road maintenance, and renovation of health centers. 1.2. Sturdy Part: (Work shop) Volunteers will discuss and share the knowledge and experience on following subjects: - The HIV/AIDS as mortal threat to human resources. - The poverty, unemployment and globalization challenge facing youths in Africa. - The Africa of today and tomorrow. Resources people (facilitators) will be invited from the Government Departments, NGOs, and High learning Institutions etc. The discussion, debates, and workshops will include local communities around, media and youths. 1.3: Visits: Volunteers will have a time to visit other development organization, institutions, youth groups, Orphanages, cultural groups, villages, towns and other interested places like Universities Colleges, Media, Women development groups and Art Crafts Centers etc. 1.4: Cultural Exchange: This will be another opportunity that all volunteers will have a chance to present the culture of their countries. We will appreciate if you bring to the camp important information about your country. There will be a cultural presentation where by all countries participates will have opportunity to present their country, people etc. You are free to choose the presentation methods; tell singing, dancing, drummers, speech etc. Don't forget to bring your National flag. A Typical day at the work camp: Our work camps are very flexible and adjustable. How ever these have been for year a typical Foot 2 Afrika day in the work camps; 07:30 - 08:00 -Break fast, 08:00 - 12:00 Work, 12:00 - 14:00 Lunch 14:00 - 17:00 Visit & discussions, 17:00 - 19:00 Free & Games, 19:00 - 2:00 Dinner, 20:00 - 22:00 Cultural night, 23:00 End of the day. 2. Qualification Required: - Best motivation to do voluntary work, special good skill & power are not necessary. - Responsibility to keep rules of Foot 2 Afrika and the host community. - Best effort to understand and respect cultures both of the host and other volunteers. - To adopt and enjoy simple conditions of the organization such as foods and accommodation etc. - Flexibility, open mind and well informed through his/her organization. - Ability to communicate in English, you don't have to speak fluently but able to follow and contribute to the discussions. 3. Food and Accommodation: Food will be provided by Foot 2 Afrika Adventurers. Meals to be prepared by Foot 2 Afrika Kitchen brigade but Students/Volunteers can participate on special African / Tanzanian dish meals preparations. We will be accommodated in shared house/Hostel/Tents. Be prepared to share rooms/Tents. Some rooms cater from two to four people and our tents are only shared by two people thought single tents are provided as well. 4. Things to bring with you: Only rooms and mattresses are available! So please take with you a bed sheet and covering sheets, sleeping bag, mosquito net, working clothes/shoes/gloves for duty works, clothes for rainy weather, rubber boots, bathing suits, swimming trunks, gears from sports you like so that you can teach others, music instruments, national dress, song books, pictures, post cards, from your town or village and other things which will make you comfortable, please don't forget your moving camera or photo camera though a Foot 2 Afrika documentaries will be there recording all of your events works and can supply the copy of Cds / Dvds at the cost of $15 per copy. 5. About Uniforms (T-Shirts): There will be a special Foot to Afrika T-Shirts as a work camp uniforms; the volunteers with a contribution of only $ 10 you will have your own 2 T-Shirts, purposely as a uniforms during the work. 7. How to join the Work Camp: The interested friend volunteers/ Students have to apply direct to Foot 2 Afrika Adventurers or through sending organization/Schools/Collages. Volunteer have to pay the travel cost to and from camp and the work camp registration fee. Application letter attached with your CV and 2-passport size photos should be send to the host organization early. 8. Accommodation fee: Volunteer/Student should have to contribute EURO 900 as accommodation fee being in hotel at your arrival and camping fee during the work at your placement, Food 3 meals in a day, Mineral water, Camping equipments, Lecturer organizing, Coordinator and ground transport, paid on arrival. Cash preferably. 8.1. Other Costs: Day trips during the weekends at EURO 10 per person. Transfer to Air port during departure day. Depends on types of transport you are using.
