French Heritage renovation workcamps

Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks and 2-4 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks

Description: During the workcamps, volunteers use numerous techniques of restoration or archaeology: drawing, excavations, masonry, stone carving , carpentry, coating, etc. Associations wish to preserve ancient techniques of restoration and use traditional regional materials. Modern techniques are also used when it is not possible to do it in another way.

French Heritage renovation workcamps

Highlights: The workcamps provide the youth the opportunity to feel responsible of the improvement of its living environment. The workcamps allow also to experience a community life and to meet young people of different social backgrounds or countries.

Beyond the workcamp, we provide volunteers the opportunity to acquire advanced techniques and pedagogical skills as well. These training programs aim to help the most motivated volunteers to become workcamp leaders or board members of a local association.

Qualifications: There are no special qualifications required.

  • Cost Include Description:
    An accident insurance is included in the registration fees. You will be covered for all activities organised during the workcamp. Travel between home and site is not covered. For EU citizens : do not forget to bring a E111 form (from your local Social Security centre). For non EU citizens: you can take out an optional sickness insurance.

    Bed and board fees will be paid directly to the leader on site. You send the registration fees along with the application form.

  • Typical Volunteer: There is no upper age limit for chantiers open to 18-years-old and over. Most participants are 18-to-25 years old. Some sites only take minors (indicated by a pictogram). 17-years-old may participate in a chantier for adults (inquiries should be adressed to the association in charge). Around twelve volunteers generally participate in each chantier ; some are first time participants, others old hands. Volunteers can come from all over France and the whole world.
