Oro Valley Discovery Project

  Italy
  • Milan:
  • Milan

Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: March 22 - April 4

Description: Cep d'Argen is a small chalky survey area at the entrance of Valle dellOro (Oro Valley) and is situated along an ancient pilgrimage footpath that leads to the San Pietro al Monte Abbey. From that place its possible to admire a wide and various landscape that comprises Colmo and Annone lakes, and the surrounding mountains. Nevertheless, due to the abandonment of managing activities, the Cep d'Argen is in a high level of environmental damage with the consequent diffusion of exotic plants (Buddleja davidii, Ailanto altissima) and invasive plants. Local environmental group, in collaboration with the municipality of Civate, intends to restore and increase the value of this small survey area, that once was a place where children used to play, with the environmental requalification project named Val dell'Oro Discovery.

The project is based in Civate, Lecco district, Lombardia region, North of Italy.

Highlights: Volunteers will have to cut and remove the invasive vegetation and create a footpath where some didactical panels will be placed. The panels about the naturalistic and historical research of the place are prepared by the students of the village.
