Wuti Orphanage in Ghana
Ghana
Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: Year round
Description:
Opening only a few years ago, this orphanage serves young Ghanaian children in the community of Kpasenkpe. It aims to not only give shelter to children who have lost their parents but to also provide them with an opportunity for early education. There is not much of a staff at the orphanage which makes the growing number of children even harder to serve. It relies heavily on labor contributions made by volunteers and the community to keep up with day to day activities. Volunteers will help children with daily activities like cleaning the rooms, getting them dressed and bathed, taking them to school, tutoring, cooking and giving general care to the infants and toddlers while the older ones attend classes in the mornings.
Highlights:
This orphanage is located in the town Kpasenkpe in the West Mamprusi district of the Northern region. Volunteers will receive a thorough orientation for a few days in the capital city of Accra upon arrival in Ghana. Volunteers will stay with carefully screened host families for the duration of the program. All meals with your host family are included in your stay.
