Community Service Alaska - 27 Days
United States
Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: June 29, July 9, July 16
Description:
360 Student Travel offers students a 27-day program in Alaska. This program features 80 hours of community service and recreational activities such as mountain biking, hiking & whitewater rafting. Have fun while making a difference. We work with dedicated service partners such as: Food Bank of Alaska, Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies, Dare to Care and Kid's Kitchen. Locations visited include Anchorage, Homer, Seldovia, Seward and highlights include an Alaskan dog sled ride and hiking a glacier. Community Service the "360 Way" is so much more than "just" volunteering. We combine helping make the world a better place with exciting travel highlights. Think of is as a reward for all your excellent work! And remember "all work and no play" is no way to spend the summer. For your convenience and consistency of the group experience, all group members stay at the same location we do not have any home-stays. We partner with established organizations that have a long history of achieving their mission and integrating volunteers into their efforts. Groups are generally 12-24 participants and most come by themselves, which we strongly encourage. Participants must be prepared for our program. Service days may last as long as 8 hours of physical labor, come rain or shine. A certificate recognizing the total number of hours of service and listing the projects accomplished is issued upon program completion. We complete 80 hours of total service.
Highlights:
Amazing Adventures: - Whitewater Raft - Glacier Hike - Fjords Cruise - Dog Sled Ride - Cycling
Qualifications:
Participants should be prepared for our program. Once you are part of a team, you are committing yourself not only to hard work on service days (from 6-8 hours) but also to your fellow volunteers and those we will be assisting. In sharing this rewarding experience, you are guaranteed to form lasting friendships and will no doubt take away much more than you give. You will receive a certificate of completion recognizing 30-80 hours (depending on program) of service and listing projects accomplished.
